Physicality Categories Definitions
1 Strength Your strength lies in being in control of the ball and fighting for possession.
2 Speed Your pace from one destination to another.
3 Quickness Your timing to get to the ball and foot reactions.
4 Aggressiveness How are you on the pitch? Do you fight for the ball, or do you easily give up? Do you get stuck in the game, making a difference or do you wait?
5 Intensity Are you jogging around during practice and not performing the way you should? Do you sprint to where you need to be? Do you open up quickly to receive a pass or do you hide behind players? Do you pass and move quickly? Do you sprint with the ball at your feet at a high pace? Intensity in practice and games is important and must be displayed.
6 Endurance Ability to keep your intensity and pace throughout the game without much effort or becoming exhausted.
7 Coordination & Balance How smooth and efficient the player’s movements are.

Mentality Categories Definitions
1 Coachability Does the player follow directions well and apply them effectively in the game? Does it take the player several times to understand or do what is asked? Is he/she easy to work with?
2 Confidence Does the player display confidence during play? Does the player try new things regardless of outcome?
3 Takes Criticism How does the player react to feedback?
4 Leadership Does the player have leadership qualities? Does the player possess an infectious winning attitude?
5 Mental Strength How does the player manage their emotions, behaviours under pressure?
6 Work Ethic Does the player have a winning plan outside of practice? How Disciplined is the player? Does the player work outside of practice on the craft?
7 Perseverence Does the player give up easily or have a negative attitude towards difficult situations? Example: always complaining that they don’t start.
8 Maturity How does the player respond to coaches and teammates during serious or non-serious moments? Does the player have a positive desire to learn dialogue with the coaches? Does he display the desire to improve and learn by asking questions or making subtle comments?
9 Vocal Does the player call for the ball loudly and help direct others on the field with prompts? Turn, Line ball, Man on, etc.
10 Creativity Somewhat subjective metric. Are you able to make something out of nothing? Are you able to keep control and possession of the ball when in difficult situations? For midfielders, this might be more possession and passing; for forwards, this will be making the right decision, skills with the ball, and creating scoring opportunities.
Soccer Ability Categories Definitions
1 Dribbling The ability to run with the ball at your feet, comfortably, without much effort.
2 Shooting The ability to shoot accurately and with power, at the right times during the game.
3 Instinct & Awareness Subjective metric: The ability, read the game and be at the right place at the right time. Is the player able to understand where he’s at on the field, make the right decisions, and avoid possible dangerous moments?
4 1st Touch The ability to trap the ball in different scenarios, high balls, hard balls, and under pressure.
5 Off Ball Movement Does the player move well off the ball, opening up space for other players and getting open for passes.
6 SOP Speed of Play: Does the player move the ball quickly?
7 Defense Does the player get back on defense and steal the ball? Or do players dribble past easily?
8 Juggling How many juggles can the player do? Age appropriate.
9 Heading Age appropriate, what is the player’s heading technique? Does the player coward?
10 S-IQ Soccer IQ: Subjective Metric: How does the player read the game? Does the player have a high understanding of the game for his/her age?
11 Passing How does the player pass the ball? Can the player pass long distances at the right speed and force? Does the ball reach the intended player at an appropriate rate and on the proper foot?
